Unlike most other "easy tilt" products on the market, the new Pinnacle Double Hung does not have a rigid jambliner. Historically, air and water are sealed out from the window by the amount of pressure between the sash and jambliner. "Some manufacturers have changed the jambliner to decrease the pressure against the sash, thereby eliminating the compression on the side of the sash," says Schiebout. "But by eliminating the side compression, they lose the sealing and must add lots of weather-stripping to meet performance ratings. The window is great when it's new, but the windows can get leaky or drafty when the weather-stripping loosens or the house settles." In addition, the combination of weather-stripping and a rigid jambliner requires that the window be installed perfectly, the hinged-back jambliner system is more forgiving.
The exclusive combination of the easy tilt and the hinged-back jambliner was created through the partnership of two companies known for innovative processes -- Windsor Windows and Intek, a renowned developer of jambliner systems.
Other double hung systems require homeowners to have to wrestle with the sashes while taking them in and out because the balances don't stay in place within the jambliner. The Pinnacle Double Hung's new locking shoe system keeps the balances in place making removal and replacement of the sash a breeze.
