Atrium will join Woodgrain's window and door division and be managed by John Smit, who also serves as president of Windsor Windows & Doors. "Windsor Windows & Doors and Atrium Wood Patio Doors will essentially be managed as separate entities," says Smit. "Because Atrium and Windsor share suppliers, raw materials and lend themselves to similar manufacturing methods, it makes sense for the two companies to have shared philosophies and vision." However, the similarities between the two companies will stop there. "The channels of distribution between the two are very different and will remain that way," adds Smit. "Atrium Wood Patio Door sales will continue to focus on the big box retailers, while Windsor Windows & Doors will continue to work through an extensive network of authorized distributors & dealers." In the past, the Atrium name has been synonymous with quality patio doors. "We recognize the value this name once has in the marketplace," says Smit. "However, because The Atrium Companies will continue to use the name marketing vinyl and aluminum windows, it needs to be clear that the patio doors are a division of Woodgrain." The new logo for the company will incorporate the name The Atrium Door by Woodgrain.
