Adhesive Performance Levels-

The Standard Specification for Adhesives Used in Nonstructural Glued lumber Products (D3110-72), Standard Specification for Adhesives Used for Finger Joints in Nonstructural Lumber Products (D5572-95(1999)), and the Standard Specification for Adhesives Used for Laminated Joints in Nonstructural Lumber Products(D5791-99) by the American Society for Testing and Material (ASTM), establishes acceptable performance levels for adhesives to be used in laminate joints and finger joints , nonstructural glued lumber products.  Such products include interior and exterior mouldings, window and door components or parts.  In these specifications, adhesives are classified on the basis of two performance levels, wet-use and dry-use.

Wet-Use Adhesives-
A wet use nonstructural adhesive is defined as one capable of producing sufficient bond strength to make the glued lumber product serviceable under nonstructural use while exposed at an Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) of 16% or greater and the temperature may reach as high as 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) at times during service.

Dry-Use Adhesives-
A dry use nonstructural adhesive is defined as one capable of developing sufficient strength and durability to make the glued lumber product serviceable under ordinary conditions of nonstructural use, when the Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) does not exceed 16% and the temperature may reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) for as long as 6 hours during shipment or no greater that 140 degree Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) continuously during service.

Aluminium-

A malleable metallic element, bluish silver-white in color, that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation. It is the most abundant metal in the earth?s crust.

Astragal-

This moulding includes two different types, a T-Astragal and a Flat Astragal.  The "T" is attached to one of a pair of doors to keep one door from swinging through the opening.  The flat astragal, which in classic Greek architecture was a bead around a column below the cap, is used for  decorative purposes.

Awning Sash-

A frame in which the panes of a window are set. The frame is built in such a way that the bottom swings outward in window frame.

Awning Window Unit-

A combination of a frame, one or more awning sashes, weather-strip and an operating device assembled as a complete and properly operating unit; screens and/or storm sash are optional; the unit may contain one or more fixed or non-operative sashes in combination with the operative sash.
